The Social Experiments: The Spirit of The Cabin is a horror-comedy interactive livestream experience that was broadcast on May 24, 2023 on Ranboo's Twitch channel. It is episode 1 of The Social Experiments and a teaser trailer was released on May 23, 2023.

Spoiler NoticeThe following page/section contains spoilers for the plot of The Spirit of The Cabin.

The episode starts with Ranboo lying on a couch in a cabin. He notices he is wearing a mask and briefly attempts to remove it before giving up. Panicking, he checks the doors to see if any are unlocked. The audience selects "Haunt", causing an urn to shatter, spilling its contents. Ranboo approaches the ashes and touches them, causing his mask to glow red, and he retreats away while yelling "NO" repeatedly. The Showfall Media logo appears in the corner of the screen, and he gets up like nothing happened, slightly confused.

Ranboo explores the room to find the keys to the right-side door, but before he can unlock it, Slimecicle bursts through the door with added applause and smoke. They enter the second room, which is a kitchen. Slimecicle tells Ranboo he will do a cooking challenge, and the audience chooses ingredients for the meal. After combining the ingredients into a bowl, Ranboo places it into the microwave, which turns the dish into a slime combination that he then serves. Slimecicle enjoys the meal Ranboo has prepared him and says he is free to go. The pair exit through the back door and find the Slime Dimension. After a few words, they both leave.

Ranboo returns to the cabin alone and goes to the kitchen. One of Slimecicle's ghouls enters the room with a VHS tape on his back, and Ranboo takes it to the TV. A hooded figure appears with a message: keep going, don't resist, and he'll be in touch soon. When the tape finishes, the stream cuts to an intermission screen from Showfall Media, saying there are technical difficulties.

Ranboo is lying on the couch again, similar to the start of the stream. He gets up, confused, and walks through the kitchen to find a basement. He explores and collects various items from around the room. He hears a voice from under the stairs and removes a tarp to find Sneeg held captive in a locked cage. Sneeg consults Frank, a plastic skeleton, for advice while Ranboo tries all the keys on the cage's combination lock but fails to unlock it. He explores the room further, finds bolt cutters and uses them to free Sneeg from the cage. Sneeg explains he was put in there after declining the cooking game. Slimecicle then appears out of the cardboard box in the corner of the room. He pours slime onto Sneeg's head, transforming him into Evil Sneeg. A boss fight starts between Ranboo and Evil Sneeg. Ranboo manages to deplete Evil Sneeg's health bar and then uses the towel to dry out the slime, turning him back into Sneeg.

Ranboo and Sneeg decide to explore the rest of the cabin and find a bedroom belonging to Slimecicle, who talks to the pair as they look around the room. They continue to explore the bedroom until the audience votes for Ranboo to go to sleep, during which Sneeg is paralysed but conscious, while Slimecicle and his ghouls simulate nightmares through the wall. When Ranboo wakes up, Sneeg tells Ranboo the wall is fabric and cuts it with scissors. Sneeg suddenly gets grabbed by Slimecicle's fantasy creature and pleads for Ranboo to help him. After taking Sneeg, it heads for Ranboo, who quickly gets to the basement.

Ranboo lures the creature into the basement cage and traps it using a lock. He then walks back to the newest room, an attic. He finds Slimecicle, upset with him for cutting through the wall and trapping his creature, and a boss fight starts. Ranboo ends the battle by throwing a towel at Slimecicle, causing him to dry up.

Ranboo collects the now-slimy towel and walks to the main room, his mask blinking red. He approaches the TV, and the hooded figure appears again, revealing his name is Hetch and telling Ranboo he has made it to Episode 2. The tape stops, and Ranboo gets up and exits through the cabin's back door. He arrives in a warehouse when suddenly he is stopped by two people in laboratory coats wearing rat masks who sedate him with an injection. The screen goes black and then displays "The Story Continues" with the broadcast date for The Mastermind of The Warehouse.

Trivia

• The episode poster was made by Kertoir.
• The stream began with the audience having to "Create-A-Creature" for Slimecicle as an active demonstration for how the Twitch extension overlay poll worked.
  • Keenan Mosimann was a body-double for Charlie Dalgleish during this opening sequence.
• Ranboo laying on the couch with his arms in a crucifixion-style pose is a direct reference to the ending scene of The Choice, and he was also tapping out "SOS" in morse code with his hand.
• The cabin's back door had an additional dimension scene that was not chosen by the audience. It was filmed in the parking lot of an old amusement park.
• The dollhouse model featured in the episode is a small-scale replica of Jerma's Dollhouse, a not-so-subtle reference to the similar live stream production previously worked on by JK Productions and Ghost Commander.
• In the basement, there is a merchandise plug on the cardboard box linking to ShowfallMedia.com, which redirects to GenerationLoss.tv^:59:15.
  • When Ranboo picks up the varsity jacket, a QR code appears in the bottom right corner of the screen, also linking to the website.
• The painting of Slimecicle on the wall in the bedroom was made by Papriaki.
• When Slimecicle runs a bicycle over Ranboo's foot, he says "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LET ME BUILD METER!!" which is a reference to a meter which is commonly found in fighting games that allows a character to unleash a powerful attack once the meter is fully built up.
• The magnets on the refrigerator spell out the phrase,” behind you”. This is a reference to the fact that the cabin is a set.

Behind the Scenes

The slime on Charlie’s suit was made of corn starch and elmer’s glue. These ingredients made an endothermic reaction when in contact with Charlie, causing him and the slime to become very cold when wearing it.

During the intermission, Ranboo accidentally dislodged a wire connected to his mask/mic setup and got minor second-degree burns on his back from an exposed wire. Despite this, he continued with the second half of the show. He went to hospital shortly after it ended, and is okay.
